Çukurcuma is the area southeast of İstiklal Caddesi, sitting in a valley between Cihangir and Tomtom. Its main street, Çukurcuma Caddesi, is lined with antique shops, but the real draw is wandering the side streets past the 19th-century buildings. It feels removed from the bustle of Beyoğlu just a few minutes away. While the antique shops are the main feature, the area is also full of small cafes and residential buildings, giving you a sense of local life in this historic part of the city.
Visit on a weekday morning; many shops open late or are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The main street has sidewalks, but the neighborhood is on a slope with many uneven, cobbled side streets and steps, making wheelchair access difficult.
